Therapeutic Approach

Integrative
Physical Therapy

Dr. Hines blends clinical expertise with manual therapy techniques that help the body function with greater ease. She utilizes gentle joint mobilizations, muscle energy techniques, myofascial release, visceral manipulation, and stretching. She helps to facilitate movement patterns, improve proprioceptive awareness, motor planning, and coordination. Strengthening exercises and neuromuscular re-education are used to help with balance, coordination, postural alignment, and overall function.

CranioSacral Therapy & Nervous System Support

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on treatment technique that evaluates the physiological functioning of the craniosacral system. CST can serve as a support for resetting of the Central Nervous System, allowing patients to move out of a state of fight, flight, or freeze, process trauma using SomatoEmotional Release techniques, and to allow for deeper healing to begin. CST is calming, relaxing, safe for patients of all ages, and can be used to treat specific concerns and to support physical and emotional wellness.

Pediatric Development & Oral-Motor Support

With advanced training in infant and pediatric care, Dr. Hines supports babies and children following birth trauma, with tightness, torticollis, plagiocephaly, feeding challenges, and for overall development. Dr. Hines works with children with neurological challenges and sensory processing difficulties. She works with patients who have oral restrictions (lip, tongue, and buccal ties) who struggle with feeding, to support with diagnosis, wound care post-frenectomy, and to assist in improving mobility and function.

Intensive Programs & Multi-Hand Therapy

For patients needing greater support, Dr. Hines offers intensive programs. Intensive programs are effective in serving as a catalyst for profound changes in a patient’s physical and emotional healing. From 4-5 hours of therapy in one day to 20 hours of therapy in a week long intensive, these programs are designed to accelerate the patient’s progress. An intensive timeline can be created to meet the needs of the patient and family. Multi-hand/multi-therapist sessions are offered a few times per year in New Jersey and Massachusetts.

Specialized Care for Babies and Children

With Dr. Hines’ advanced training and experience, she is an excellent choice for families when their babies or children need gentle, skilled support for feeding challenges, oral restrictions (tongue, lip, buccal ties), postural concerns (head tilt or preference, asymmetries, jaw recession), mouth breathing, developmental delays, torticollis, plagiocephaly (flattened head) and cranial asymmetries, difficulties settling and regulating, reflux, sensory processing challenges, autism, and other neurological and orthopedic conditions. With advanced training in infant and childhood development, certifications in both Neuro-Developmental Treatment and CranioSacral Therapy, Dr. Hines provides care that addresses nervous system regulation, while treating underlying tension patterns and restrictions that are impacting mobility, feeding, function, development, sleep, and overall wellness.

Treatment sessions are approached with respect for the parent-child relationship and embody an attached parenting mindset allowing babies and children to feel safe during therapy. Changes reported by parents after therapy include improvements in movement, less muscle tension, improved head shape, better jaw alignment, improvement in feeding, decrease in reflux, gas, and distress, improved milestone attainment and development, and overall a more relaxed and regulated child at home with greater engagement in play, therapy, and learning.

Individualized Therapy for Adult Patients

Adults pursue treatment at Connectivity Therapy & Holistic Health for a whole body, hands-on manual therapy approach that is grounded in anatomy and physiology and is supportive to the Central Nervous System. Dr. Hines helps adults who are struggling with pain, tension, headaches, oral restrictions, temporomandibular joint disorder, traumatic brain injury and post-concussion syndrome, trauma and injury recovery, supporting conception, pregnancy, birthing, and post-partum, helping with neurological, immune, respiratory, and orthopedic conditions, and in supporting healing following long-term stress with chronic depletion. By combining her training in Physical Therapy and CranioSacral Therapy with a strong background in Somato-Emotional Release, and by using her manual therapy skills focused on lymphatic drainage, visceral manipulation, and myofascial release, Dr. Hines is able to help the body find an improved state of regulation and move towards homeostasis, which allows for true healing. By being grounded and neutral in her approach, she is able to support patients through physical and emotional healing and she provides a safe space for release, processing, and nervous system regulation.

Each session is individualized and meets the patient where they are that day, helping support what their body and nervous system needs. Sessions can vary based on the patient’s presentation with some sessions focused more on structural alignment and the release of physical restrictions, while other sessions may emphasize calming of the Central Nervous System and allowing the body to restore through deeper processing and healing. Dr. Hines follows the patient’s body and supports it on the pathway to healing and wellness. Many adult patients report relief from long-standing pain, tension, dysregulation, insomnia, brain fog, mental health struggles, and achieve improved posture, mobility, and quality of life that have not improved through traditional therapies alone. It is common for an adult to leave therapy with Dr. Hines feeling calmer, more connected and present in their bodies, and with a better ability to navigate their daily life.
